Please bring your PE kit to school at the start of every half term and then it can stay on your peg until the end of each half term. This was we don’t have to worry about forgetting our kit!
Each half term we will send home a home learning map for your children to select activities from. Please help your child with their home learning, we’re sure that you’ll have great fun together!
We still continue to expect your child to read at least 4 times each week. As we explained on Meet The Teacher day, reading is a crucial part of your child’s development and your children will be expected to become confident, independent readers by the end of Year 2. If your children fail to do this they will be expected to stay in during their break/lunchtime and complete the task. Please encourage your child to read a variety of different texts (books, magazines, food packets, menus etc.) and not just their school reading book as this broadens their ability and willingness to read for different purposes.
Spellings will also be sent home each week. The number of spellings your child is given will depend on their individual abilities.
Our first topic this year will be 'Once upon a Castle' where we will be learning about a variety of fairy tales (traditional and alternative versions) as well as learning about castles, why they were built, what they are like and the people that lived in them.
